Mindfulness is a hot topic at the moment as people look at ways to improve their quality of life. There are many ways of practising this, and often these can be tailored to fit in with your lifestyle. However, it does require a bit of practise and patience.
So what is Mindfulness?
There are many definitions of Mindfulness and it will be different for everyone, but I like to think of Mindfulness as a way of living so that we enjoy the present moment, while not worrying about the past and future. We can spend so much time fretting about things that may or may not have happened, that we forget about what is good in our lives and don’t pay attention to what is happening right now. Mindfulness is an approach which helps you to find your own way to achieve this. Everyone has there own way of being mindful, for some it is very spiritual, for others it is less so, there is no right or wrong way.
Why Practise Mindfulness?
Well, Mindfulness has some clinically proven benefits:

- Improved relationships

- Improved health and wellbeing

In particular, if you think of all the health and relationship problems caused by stress, while not necessarily clinically proven, there are also a whole raft of additional things which may be improved with Mindfulness.
Mindfulness has also been shown to be helpful in smoking cessation and weight reduction.
